Part Time, Mostly Seasonal April – November

Starts $18-$19/hr, Commensurate With Work Experience

About The Role

Event Openers & Closers (depending on specific shift), occasional Rehearsal Day Support, & possible opportunity to assist mid-week with linen & furniture set-ups. 

Ensure the readiness of venue before, operation during & responsibly closing the venue following events. 

Ideal candidates are those with a focus on detail, service oriented, enjoy both independent responsibilities & supporting a team effort. Clear communication & interpersonal abilities required, with the capacity to interact graciously, confidently & professionally with couples, guests & vendors, recognizing the need to follow venue policies. Be able to exercise judgement & make decisions based upon job knowledge & awareness of HW’s goals. This will require familiarity with our rental agreement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Openers provide final venue preparation (final placement of outdoor furniture/linens , hospitality supplies checked, venue tidied).
  • Liaise with client’s Day-Of Coordinator to be sure venue set as planned & provide support as appropriate.
  • Closers provide care of venue during event, oversee usage of venue & guest safety. 
  • Oversee timely exit of guests & vendors, performing closing duties following their exit.
  • Openers & Closers assist in providing turnover of loft from getting ready area to reception space as needed, assist with parking oversight upon guest arrival & provide resets from ceremony to reception.
  • Friday Rehearsal Day Support staff assist with set-up of tables/chairs for rehearsal dinner, liaise with Day-Of Coordinator to support wedding rehearsal & safely close venue after.

REQUIREMENTS & COMMITMENTS

  • Customarily work 8 to 9 hour shifts on Saturdays, 5 to 7 hours on Friday 
  • Saturday Openers customarily work 8:30a to late afternoon/early evening hours; some flexibility required
  • Saturday Closers customarily work 3 to 11:30p; some flexibility required
  • Friday Rehearsal Day staff work afternoon up to 9:30p
  • To perform essential functions of HW staff, regular & consistent attendance is required
  • Able to carry up to 30lbs & move ceremony/reception furniture with others
  • Able to safely operate golf cart
  • Willing to perform duties in inclement weather (e.g. - parking oversight when raining)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; willing to consider well-qualified high school senior for role of Opener
  • Maintain professional appearance - dress for events is similar to caterers, photographers & coordinators; no fad/torn jeans, cropped tops, sweatshirts or t-shirts with writing/designs, worn gym shoes. Wearing clothes that allow for professional ease of movement is essential. Often, simple black tops & black pants (similar to above mentioned vendors) will suffice. If in doubt, ask. Remember, we’re caring for someone’s wedding!
